Polaroid Now:
Case Study
I love my Polaroid because of it’s ability to instantly reproduce a moment in the physical space. Translating that moment into something tangible and material is what pushed me to deconstruct this tiny machine.
The Process
Driven by a curiosity about camera mechanics, I undertook this project to reveal the complexity of instant photography. I digitally deconstructed my Polaroid camera through technical illustration, transforming its self-printing technology into an expanded view. Beginning with observational sketches of my camera, I captured its mechanical elements, character, and design language. These initial studies evolved into technical drawings for the final digital version.
The Result
Taking my technical drawings into Illustrator, I crafted these digital posters as an informative design for the viewer. The following gallery is a breakdown of how I created these layouts with line drawings, flat colors, and layering.
